Features

Your home's air conditioner is likely one of the most important, and expensive, purchases that you'll make. While manufacturers offer excellent warranties that cover a wide variety of circumstances, one conspicuous absence is common: power surge coverage. Even small electrical disturbances, such as brownouts, can wreak havoc on the compressor in your heating and cooling equipment, causing short-cycles and shortening the life of your equipment. That's where Intermatic's CD1-024R Compressor Defender comes in. The Compressor Defender is a UL1449 3rd Edition-certified HVAC surge protection device. It protects your heating and cooling equipment in both undervoltage and overvoltage situations, and provides additional warranty coverage in the event of electrical damage. Don't allow your comfort to be disrupted, install a Compressor Defender for your air conidtioner or heat pump today.

    Product Features

    Powerful Protection
When installed in a line-to-neutal/ground application, the Compressor Defender has a maximum continuous operating voltage of 150V and a voltage protection rating of 700V. If you're putting it in a line-to-line application, those numbers jump to to 300V and 1,200V respectively. A 10,000 amp nominal discharge current rating means that it will still be working after 15 surges of 10,000 amps, and it can withstand short circuit current of up to 20,000 amps.

    Comprehensive Coverage
Many connected equipment warranties only cover electro-mechanical components like motors and switches. The Compressor Defender provides three years and $7,500 of warranty coverage to every electrical component in your equipment, including microprocessors, circuitboards, and logic boards, making it the perfect choice to protect today's high-tech HVAC equipment.

    TPMOV Technology
The Compressor Defender's thermally protected metal oxide varistor (TPMOV) technology provides protection from a greater variety of electrical failures when compared to MOV technology, which is still used by many surge protection devices. TPMOV devices also guard against greater surges and disconnect more quickly than MOV models.

    Durable Enclosure
Theis surge protection device is suitable for installation in nearly any conditions thanks to its weather-resistant type 3 NEMA enclosure. This enclosure protects the unit from everything from dust to ice, giving you the flexibility to safely install it either indoors or outside.

    Undervoltage Insurance
Significant drops in voltage, known as brownouts, are just as dangerous to your compressor as power surges. The Compressor Defender protects your equipment against these events, and it includes a time delay to prevent the short cycle that is typical when normal voltage conditions resume.

    Quick Install
The Compressor Defender can be installed either inside your unit or at the electrical disconnect. With each option, it only takes a qualified installer about ten minutes to get your condenser protected.
