Great Unit - Consult Electrician and Plumber before Ordering Any

We originally bought the Eemax ED032 - 4.0 GPM at 60° F Rise - 480V / 3 Ph Tankless Point of Use Water Heater. Although our house is unusual in that we have 480V leading to our breaker box, we only have 240V within our house. So, our electrician had us return the ED032 to eComfort just in time for a full refund (Thank you, eComfort!) and instead order the Eemax HA027 - 3.0 GPM at 60° F Rise - 240V / 1 Ph Tankless Point of Use Water Heater. Our electrician then had to run three 240V cables, each attached to its own 40A breaker, to the HA027, given it has a current draw of 112 amps at 240 volts. The HA027 is larger (17x17x3.75") than the ED032 (12.5x18.2x4.32"). The HA027 draws more watts of electricity than the ED032 draws (240Vx112A=26,880W vs. 480Vx38A=18,240W). And, the flow rate at 60F rise is 3GPM for the HA027 vs. 4GPM for the ED032. But, if you cannot deliver 480V to your heater, then the 240V HA027 is a great alternative to the ED032 -- at about half the price of the ED032, too.
Two lessons learned: 1. Consult an electrician before ordering. 2. Find out from your city whether a tankless-water-heater drain-pan is needed. Our city forced us to install one of these drain-pans beneath our HA027, and it looks like a black, plastic urinal. We might have had our plumber put the HA027 in a less conspicuous location, if we had known in advance about the drain-pan, which is relatively large. (Ours is the Camco 11470 Tankless Water Heater Drain Pan with PVC Fitting.)
