Fantech FG6XL Reviews & Ratings

Works as expected

The blower works as expected, smooth running starts well. Speed controller has a smaller range than expected but it does noticeably reduce the speed. Since I used rigid steel 6" duct the noise level is higher than I would like but it is quieter than my old kitchen exhaust fan. If I had to do this again I might spring for the muffler or try to isolate the blower connections to the duct work better.

A great little fan

I bought this in-line fan to pump warm air into a chase containing hot and cold water pipes. When outdoor temperatures drop below 15 degrees Fahrenheit, the air in the chase falls below freezing, so I was worried that the pipes would freeze.
This little fan together with flex duct (I stripped away the outer insulation) solved the problem. I have a thermostat in the chase and a control system that turns on the fan when the chase temperature drops below 40 degrees F.
Now I can spend time in warmer climates when New England gets too cold for most warm blooded creatures.

The FG8 is not easily found on the market. E-Comfort has it at a very fair price and they were easy to work with. The E-comfort telephone operator was cheerful, helpful and informed. E-Comfort shipped the fan for free. The product works exactly as expected, which is excellent.

I used this inline fan to hook up to my vent hood in my kitchen. Even though this product was assembled in America, the motor was made in Germany and you certainly can't go wrong with German technology. I also brought LD10 silencer to attach directly to the fan and placed the silencer between the vent hood and the fan. I also purchased the FC10 clamp to hold the silencer and fan in place. I find the clamp itself was not good enough to hold fan and the silencer. To give me a piece of mind, I first used the metal tape to tape the silencer and motor together. Second, I snapped in 10" metal duct and screwed 8 Marco zip 1/2" screws (4 screws for silencer and 4 screws for motor). I applied another layer of metal tape over the screws to seal any potential air that may escape. Finally, I used the FC10 clamp to lock everything up. I used flexible duct for two sections. First section is to connect vent hood to the silencer and last one is to connect fan to the roof cap. The flexible duct is highly recommended to prevent any vibration from the fan. I turned on my vent hood at the lowest setting and you can tell immediately that there are some good suction going on. It was so quiet and my refrigerator was actually louder. At the highest setting, you can't hear the fan that is located in the attic. The only thing I heard at the highest setting is the wind (similar to the sound of A/C return air). Cooked bacon, curry, fish sauce, other various other pungent ingredients and fan will suck all of unwanted odor out of house. Just a fantastic design and my only regret is that I wish I done this long time ago. Next to replace the bathroom vent with Fantech fan.
