Fantech VHR150R Reviews & Ratings

This is the best unit I could find on the internet worldwide

I am living in New Zealand and ordered it for use here although we have a different mains voltage and frequency (230V / 50Hz). I'll be using this in our new home and use an Eaton UPS to change the mains frequency and a small transformer to step down to 120V/60Hz. I am going through this setup because I could not find a better unit worldwide. I do not understand why humidity is used for automatic control. Using CO2 level as would have been better, perhaps it has to do with reliability (I had two CO2 meters fail on me and they are not cheap). I had expected a small controller to set the three speeds manually, unfortunately I had to buy that separately. Living in New Zealand I would have appreciated a proper schematic that can be used for functionality checking / repair if ever needed.

Great for high humidity pet room ventilation. I bought this unit to improve the air quality in my pet room that contains a 600 gallon aquarium and 200 more gallons in the sump bringing the total volume up to 800 gallons. Needless to say humidity was a problem in this 14' x 14' room. My room has a split ducted a/c unit set to 84 degrees and did have a dehumidifier. These would work together to control the temp and humidity in the room but was using a lot of power to do so. Problem was much worse in the winter when the a/c was not needed. The dehumidifier could not keep up and in trying would generate enough heat to require some a/c even in the winter. I installed this unit in the room, ducting to the outside wall. To make a long story short, it dropped the humidity to outside levels, brought the temp Down but managed to keep some heat in the room. This was running on continous low The a/c no longer runs but expect it back as ambient temps start to rise. So no running dehumidifier and no a/c to run because of the dehumidifier. This according to my kill a watt meter should save me about 40-60 dollars a month. This unit on low only uses about 1.80 a month. I will try just using the humidistat to see of the room temp holds better as even low continous may be too much. My plan when It gets hot out is to turn it off continuos low and just use a humidistat to run this unit and let the a/c unit do the rest. Should be much better since it won't have to fight that dehumidifier anymore. Only negative is now the room stays cooler and drier than before. This will require some form of heat to keep the room from getting too cool next winter. Next project will be a home made solar water heater for the aquarium to reduce the need for the high watt water heater.
