I've installed Generac since 2011 and these relays are the only thing on the market at the moment, that truly works as a load management system! They can be installed anywhere in the house (not just at the main panel) because they operate based on the frequency of the generator (therefore you can technically use them on any generator) but low and behold, they will fail! Had a customer, who we already replaced 3 of them, another who recently lost both in a lightning storm. I can't tell you, what burned them up, but it's usually a combination of external sources and possibly poor or cheaply made product?
All the ones we replaced, had a secondary issue along with them, so I don't blame Generac soley. It's the only load management system on the market outside of Briggs, that works, so don't look anywhere else, Cummins doesn't even have one, so don't bother. For Kohler, you will need a PC to program everything and Briggs, is well Briggs, good luck with everything else there.

Circuit Board Failure

I am back. All three of my smart management relays failed within 3 years. Of course, that is outside my warranty period of 1 year. The circuit board in the 50 amp relay is the same as the 100 amp module. Order the smaller if that is all you need is the board. I've seen numerous bad reviews with the same issues. WHY ISN'T THERE AN OPTION TO ORDER THE CIRCUIT BOARD ONLY? I have emailed Gen Direct three times now. No responses! Customer service? Hello??

I have 3 AC units. I have 2 on this module. It helps share the load and protects my generator. The 3rd module shuts off my 3rd AC unit to my game room.

Generac Smart Management Module 50 amp lasted only 4 years for me. I only use the one, ac, but really thought it would last longer. Is there any substitute for this? The contacts slides but no juice from the inside to the outside power.

They simply are poorly built. One was went bad week unit was installed, over next 2 years have replaced all but one total of six replacements. and Generac Just Does Not Care.

We use these to control AC Units at our Assisted Living Facility. These Generac units are failure prone. There are two different versions, they cosmetically appear the same, but functionally work differently and so parts such as mother board and physical switch are not interchangeable. Plan on having a spare for when one of these units fail for some mission critical equipment.
