Beware Spark Gap

Generac's Owner's Manual for 10KW to 22KW Air-Cooled Generators CORRECTLY lists the gap for the G-Force 800 series engines as 0.020 inches (0.508mm). When I searched online, I found 0.040 inches on the Generac Web site so I called Generac Support they told me 0.040 inches and that the spark plugs in kit would be properly gapped. The gaps of the two plugs in the kit were 0.040 inches. When I went to change the original plugs on my 16KW Guardian Model G0071770 the plugs were gapped at 0.020 inches. I called our OUTSTANDING Generac repair and warranty company, TSE Power Solutions north of Seattle, and they confirmed that the correct gap for the G-Force 800 is 0.020 inches.

It has been my practice to order the maintenance kit that fits the Generac model generator specified. The box is labeled with the part number i need and i can pen in any notes I need to point out any changes from earlier models. I don't always need all of the contents, but I have them. I always use the oil filter and can make the kit complete by ordering a pack of filters. It's my own opinion that the hydraulic oil filter is better than a standard oil filter. The orange color works for writing the date of the oil change right on the filter in black permanent marker. I don't have to go to the store to have them tell me "the person who usually does this isn't in until" shipping is costly so I try to purchase multiple items at one time to make shipping at least reasonable. When i can find a better way - it'll show.

It's a good thing I double-checked the sparkplugs that came with the kit. They were NOT the same size that was in my generator. I contacted the company and was told they would send me a refund.
