Generac Guardian® 24kW Aluminum Home Standby Generator w/ Wi-Fi

We purchased our generator in October 2024 during a promotional sale which included a (7) year parts and labor warranty from Generac. I am a licensed HVAC Contractor and installed the generator myself. I performed an electrical load calculation on our home loads to insure proper selection of the home generator.

I contracted with a licensed electrician to perform the installation of the automatic transfer switch and wiring between the utility power source, ATS, load center and the generator. We used copper conductors for all electrical wiring. The electrical conductors between the ATS and generator were installed in approved conduit as per code.

I installed the natural gas line and regulator to the generator, and tested for proper gas pressure to the generator.

Prior to the installation of the generator I contracted with a crew to level the area where the generator would be placed. They placed crushed decomposed granite and 12" x 12" concrete step pads as a foundation prior to placing the GenPad for generator support.

The generator start-up went well and we tested all loads in a staged manner to insure proper operation of the generator. The generator provided power for A/C, washer / dryer, TV, lights, and other required loads.

I would highly recommend the typical homeowner to research and select a knowledgeable company to install their home generator. A company who has experience with the installation of a generator will be of great benefit for the homeowner. I do not recommend that a homeowner hire an electrician for the electrical, a plumber for the gas line installation, and figure out the rest.

As a retired HVAC Contractor the installation of this generator was quite an undertaking. It took considerable research, planning and execution of the work to make the installation happen in a professional satisfactory manner. In my opinion, a generator installation would be better handled by a professional installation company who has performed many installations.

Electric Generators Direct is an excellent place to begin for the homeowner who wants to install a stand-by generator. They are very knowledgable and are well equipped to answer all of the pertinent questions. They also offer an option for the person who purchases their own generator and can offer professional installation.

so far our Generac is working perfect. Our power went out and it kicked in and was working fine. We purchased this product because we know a lot of people with this product and they love it, have had no problems with it, so we broke down and purchased one.

I replaced a 17kw that was still running but I wanted to upgrade. Installed 24kw runs great. Had some wiring issues (control battery charger neutral) called customer support and they were great. Have not done wifi yet need a new router.... Would buy again..

After installation, connecting with the ML app was easy. Fired right up manually and in automatic mode when testing. A couple things from a quality perspective. The back panel was slightly out of alignment causing it not to be flush at the corner. The other issue/suggestion, rather than having an on/off switch at the rear on the unit install an emergency stop switch (E-Stop). Many cities and towns require it. As such it cost me extra during the installation process.

My 14 year old 20 KW Generac quit outputting voltage. One side of the stator shorted to ground. Found Electric Generator Direct online. They were offering a 10% discount, free shipping with liftgate service. I ordered the 24 KW on Monday morning and R&L shipping had it at my house Tuesday at 4 PM. I could not believe I got it that quick. I live in Louisiana and the shipment came from Texas. I removed my old Generac the next day and installed the new one that same day.

The hole pattern for the bolt down was different and it came with a different Flex gas line so a little modifications for install but all went well. Other than testing and weekly exercise have not had a power outage yet which is really unusual for us. Also really like the WIFI option to be able to monitor status from cell phone which my 20 KW didn't have. Thanks Electric Generator Direct.

Just finished install... Quick start up and all looks to be good. So far, very happy with our purchase.

Fair price with good customer relations while ordering. Very helpful. Delivery date arranged between 11am to 4pm on agreed upon date. Called delivery company who said it would arrive at 6:30 or later, in the dark. My electrician had to wait with his Bobcat to load onto elevated generator platform. Upon arrival, box was destroyed but luckily generator unharmed. Bill of laden indicated 24k generator. Electrician could not return to install for three weeks. Upon install, generator cabinet indicated 14k generator. Called Electric Generators Direct who said they would open a claim but since it was installed, they didn’t know what they would do. I had to send pictures and it might take several days to consider. I complied but called Generac customer service directly and received great customer service and response. Serial number indicated a 24k generator with the wrong decal on the cabinet. Customer service registered my generator and committed to sending the proper decal.

All’s well but the process of delivery to customer service on behalf of EGD left much to be desired. Mistakes happen but EGD placed the burden of blame on me. Their quality control left much to be improved upon. I felt abandoned as a customer. I realize the it was faulty labeling at the factory but a little more assurance by EGD would have been appreciated. I guess I could have refused delivery due to damaged box, but in the darkness we did not see the 14k decal on the cabinet. As it turned out, it was a 24k generator but I’m sure if I refused delivery, I would have had to pay for redelivery (what I was told by delivery company).

If you order from EGD, upon delivery, UNPACK, check serial numbers, cabinet decals, model numbers. You will have to open cabinet to get the numbers. Delivery driver will not wait for this process. One would think EGD would check before shipping and Generac would check before sending to their distributor. But EGD places the entire burden on you,the customer. I got lucky. Incident just happened, so I may be a little shaken up by the prospect of getting stuck with an undersized generator. My experience is food for thought.

First time I have ever used this company. Wonderful customer service on the phone. Ordered on a Thursday, was at my home on Tuesday. Far exceeded my expectations.
