Features
- Advanced Heat Exchanger Design
- The GMVM97 furnace employs a reliable dual-diameter tubular heat exchanger design. Aluminized steel is used for incredibly efficient heat transfer, and a wrinkle-bend is applied to the tubes to enhance the heat exchanger's dependability and longevity.
- Secondary Heat Exchanger
- This furnace produces additional heat by directing combustion gases through a secondary heat exchanger before they are vented. The secondary heat exchanger is made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel and it is sloped to prevent condensate build-up.
- Quiet Comfort
- The blower of the GMVM971005CN was selected for its incredibly low sound levels. Additionally, this unit offers an airflow system and fan speed options that allow it to operate quietly while providing consistent comfort.
- Venting Options
- The GMVM971005CN offers several venting options to streamline installation in a variety of applications. It can be used in either a two-pipe direct vent setup or a single-pipe configuration with combustion air.
- Secure Cabinet
- All GMVM97 furnaces are protected by a durable steel cabinet rated for less than 2% air leakage. The heat exchanger section is insulated to prevent heat loss and the return side of the cabinet is solid and airtight.
- ComfortBridge Compatible
- This furnace is compatible with Goodman's ComfortBridge communicating controls. ComfortBridge control streamlines the installation and maintenance processes further by automatically detecting your equipment and providing diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Auto-Comfort
- Goodman's Auto-Comfort mode is available in applications where the GMVM971005CN is used to distribute cooled air. This mode scales output up to the cooling demand in stages for improved comfort, efficiency, and dehumidification.
- Easy Integration
- The GMVM971005CN makes it simple to enhance your system with a humidifier and an electronic air cleaner; just wire them directly to the low-voltage terminals on the control board.
- Extended Warranty
- Goodman offers a 10-year limited unit replacement and parts warranty when you register your product online within 60 days of installation. An unregistered product has the standard 5-year warranty. See the "Manuals" tab for more information.
Goodman established itself as the largest HVAC manufacturer in the US by producing high-quality, efficient equipment and providing it to homeowners at a great value. The GMVM97 furnace utilizes a combination of dual steel heat exchangers, a modulating gas valve, and a variable speed blower motor to heat your home at an incredible 97% efficiency. Both the gas valve and motor scale their performance to your home's demand from moment-to-moment to ensure that you stay comfortable without over-heating your space. Even with some of the most advanced components available, installing the GMVM971005CN is easy. Goodman provides multiple options for orientation and gas, electrical, and venting connections. Maintenance is just as easy thanks to a self-diagnosing control board that records and displays error codes. If you're looking for exceptional comfort and peak efficiency, the GMVM97 is what you want.

Vent Type
Vent Type
Products that use combustion (burning) of fuel to create heat also create potentially dangerous gasses that need to be exhausted (AKA "Vented"). Depending on the product, venting can be done via a chimney, through a side wall, or use a second vent to provide fresh air to the appliance.

Modulating/Staging
Modulating/Staging
Stages are unique speeds or levels that equipment can operate at. More stages allow for better fine-tuned control of output, which improves comfort and efficiency. Modulating equipment can operate across a range of levels, giving the highest level of fine-tuned control. Learn More

Configuration
Configuration
Orientation describes the direction that air will flow through a piece of equipment. (e.g. air will flow horizontally through a "Horizontal" unit heater.) Most equipment will only function properly if installed in the proper orientation.

I am in the process of installing a new Goodman heating & cooling system that is ComfortNet compatible. I am considering the CTK04 Thermostat, but I don't if I should spend almost $600 on this thermostat versus a non-ComfortNet thermostat at less than half the cost.

Is the fan compartment insulated? Quiet operation is key, as we've spent the past 25 years adjusting the TV volume.
