(4)Its All In The Installation Manual

Everything works great from 90 degree days to 0 degree days in the winter. Some reviews on here I question, seems like the installs were not done correctly as if a 15amp circuit was not ran to the generator to keep the battery charged, and Kohlers install is a bit different than Generacs. If you are not highly highly mechanically inclined I would recommend having a Kohler certified dealer install it only or i think steps will be missed, most guys want to get in and out in less than a day it seems. I can say this unit is equal to a 14kw Generac and is better than a 12kw brigs. Has much easier serviceability than a brigs 12kw. If you are tight on space and cant fit a lengthy 14kw Generac then this Kohler 12kw is the one to get. Installed mine with a 150amp ATS switch and it runs my whole house with a 2.5 ton ac unit just fine. When you dig into the specs this 12kw is more like a 14kw Generac, has a V-Twin with high surge capability. So keep that in mind, in a nutshell a Kohler 10-12kw is not a Generac 10-12kw…. The Kohlers are underrated and or Generacs over rated so when calculating what you need it can make things a big confusing at first.

Had my generator for seven years and it has never failed me. I know they're expensive but when the power goes out THEY'RE PRICELESS. We've lost power for several days in the summer and winter.

Received quickly. Installed and running with no problems. Started up on first attempt. There are many steps involved between the genset and ATS - take the time to be fully familiar with installation books and you’ll have no problems.

In service for 1 1/2 years 100 hours use, local electrician and propane company install, unit cranks but will not start and getting Kohler service out to look at it is impossible, I can't even get an appointment out of them, Kohler appears to have a weak service network that is extremely limited and for that reason alone i can't recommend this unit, it is basically a yard ornament now.

Worst product I ever bough. This is not my first generator. I burned 3 batteries in 10 days. It burns too much fuel. It is too loud. Spoke to company they were no help. They got my money and that's what they care about. After the last power I lost all my food and bought 3 batteries. The unit gave me power during the 10 days. Don't but one.

Don't Buy A Kohler Generator

I bought this to install for a customer. I installed it and the gas company came out to run a gas line. There was no LP gas orifice with the generator. I called Kohler and they said they would get back to me. This was over a month ago. Electric Generators Direct said they ordered an orifice over 2 1/2 weeks ago and still no part. My customer is extremely mad and rightfully so. Stay away from Kohler. Their customer support is non existent.

After 5 months on back order, My electrician & plumber installed the generator in 1 day. It started on first try and successfully performed a test run. It is now scheduled for a maintenance test every week & ready for a power outage.
Switch to generator power is automatic in about 10 seconds-or less.
Price of unit was best from Electric Generators Direct. Their free delivery was
outstanding, with placement of generator where I wanted.

Does not run, period. Have had propane gas experts, others who know generators look at it, it WILL NOT START. Cranks fine, the propane gas is there, battery fully charged, switched to propane (not natural gas), but won't start. No way to get customer support since bought on line. Have called company, no help. Do not buy this generator or use this online company to buy one.

I started ordering Kohler generators for the company I work for about 5 years ago. This new style Kohler is awesome. Less space and I think it is much quieter than traditional models. I would have given it a 5 star quality rating but the case had a few dings and the top was warpped when it arrived. A simple fix but never the less you should not have to repair something MEW. Over all this is a great unit and I will be purchasing one for my cabin in the near future.
