Now THAT's A PUMP!
By Ann M

Purchased 07/25/2024 |
Review Posted 08/17/2024
. . . is what my plumber said when he saw the Liberty 287 I had purchased to replace the 35-yr-old pedestal pump in the sump of my 1941 home. I ordered the 287 on a Thursday from Sump Pumps Direct and it arrived the following Monday. Installation was smooth and quick and performance has been flawless but it was only installed 16 days ago. Thus, this review cannot attest to its long term durability. I would be over the moon if it lasts as long as the old pedestal unit but I probably won't live long enough to find out, so if it's the last sump pump I ever buy that's good enough for me. I like the streamlined float design and the pump is quiet. Like all quality sump pumps, as long as it does its job well you can just about forget it's even there.

Great machine, I cannot believe how quiet it is. I will have to go downstairs and check to make sure its working. My last Liberty sump lasted 21 years and last week it seemed the floater got stuck and I had a flood, however, just taping it with my foot, it started and was running fine, but I thought it best to purchase a new one. Very happy that I did. Very nice, I will let you know how it does in a month. I just had it put it in tonight. Highly recommend this model 287. Very happy, and it arrived less than 24 hours. Don't know how that happened. but very very pleased.

This pump works great for our basement. Unfortunately our water table is high and so we needed this pump to replace another one that burned out. Thank you for the fast turn around on the delivery.

It was delivered in two days and was better built than expected. Worked great during testing will see how it performs this fall when the water table comes up. This pump replaced a model 237 that was installed in 1997 and has worked flawlessly in some pretty difficult conditions.

Pump Is Not Reliable.
By Cisco D.

Review Posted 06/06/2020
Pump switch failed (this problem has happened to me twice) on me during a noreaster no less. The worst part is this sump sits higher than my Zoeller M53 in the same basin. It runs less than that "2 or 3 years older. pump, yet it bit the bullet first...from now on I am sticking with Zoeller.

Purchased Liberty 287 based on previous experience with Liberty products and the Liberty brand's reputation. Although somewhat pricy, it is worth the peace of mind.

These Pumps Never Worked
By Saritha A
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Purchased 07/17/2015 |
Review Posted 10/17/2019
I have two Liberty 287s. What happens is that brown sludge at the bottom will prevent the stick part from moving up. And the stick part is what activates the pump, not the float.

Expert Response
Very sorry to hear that these never worked for you. Based on what you described, you may be using the wrong pump/switch for your application. Sump pump applications require a sump pump and sewage applications require a sewage/ejector pump. Also, you may want to consider a pump with a tether float switch because it will have less issues if there is brown sludge as the bottom of your basin. Lastly, if the brown sludge occurs regularly, you may wanted to consider cleaning out the basin more frequently. If you have any additional questions regarding your application or selecting the correct pump / switch for your application, please don't hesitate to contact us.

First pump I ever brought and it does not disappoint. I was deciding between the Zoeller 98 and Liberty 287. Although the Zoeller has a good history, I opted for the Liberty 287. I had some heavy rain and the Liberty worked great. Highly recommend!
