Features

The AFG SMT-3.0 is the world's first smart attic fan. During the summer, an attic can be 40-50 degrees hotter than the outside temperature; which can affect the temperature inside your house. With an attic fan, cool the attic to the same temperature as it is outside, while avoiding temperature swings inside your home. Homeowners on average see around 10-30% savings on their energy bills in the summer by adding an attic fan. Prolong the life of your roof and home by preventing mold, moisture, humidity, and excessive heat.
  • Built-In Thermostat and Humidistat
  • The QuietCool Smart Attic Fan eliminates the days of having to adjust the thermostat for your attic fan. It features a built-in thermostat and humidistat. It has a 10-speed ECM motor that constantly checks and adjusts the temperature and humidity levels.
  • Energy Savings
  • The Smart Attic Fan will keep your attic cooler than it would with a traditional single-speed attic fan. When the attic stays cooler, the fan runs at a lower speed saving on energy costs.
  • Smart Attic Fan
  • When the fan detects that the temperature rises over 80 degrees, or humidity is over 60%, the Smart Attic Fan comes on at the lowest speed. As the attic starts to warm up, the Smart Attic Fan will automatically adjust its speed.
  • American Quality
  • QuietCool is proudly designed and built in the USA with a 98% customer satisfaction rate.
  • High Volume with Low Power Consumption
  • At the highest speed the AFG SMT-3.0 moves 2830 CFM of air using only 145 watts. The lowest speed setting, the fan moves 963 CFM of air at an incredible 15 watts.
  • Product Note
A 26" attic clearance is need to install the AFG SMT-3.0. A 20’ electric cord is included with this product.

High Quality Smart Attic Gable Fan
By Mark C
Selah, Washington
Purchased 07/11/2020 |
Review Posted 09/27/2020
This is a lot quieter than our prior 1 speed attic fan and significantly quieter on low speeds. The home runs cooler with the heat pump not running as often. The humidity sensor should cut down on moisture in the attic too.

I do not have air conditioning and these two units really keep the house cool. I never feel hot...they are quiet....and I love that they go faster and faster as it gets hotter and hotter outside!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

In Florida, it is imperative to know what the temperature is in the attic. Installed in the summer, knowing temp and humidity let us known that running it once the sun goes down for 3 hours bringing attic temp down within 5 degrees of outside temp. We learned that running it all day has no value because the direct sun heats up insulation, rafters, etc. It will run differently in other seasons. We would not have this info without blue tooth. Adds extra savings!

Great Product

Should have upgraded long ago. Just had a basic gable attic fan that stop working. Is to mount and wire. The amount of air this fan can move is night and day from what I had. Love the way fan automatically controls speed based on heat and humidity. Even when running on high fan is very quite. Great fan and would recommend.

Smart Gable Fan - Great Features Auto Thermostat Built In - Auto
By Maureen K

This attic fan was exactly what we needed for our small 1000 sq foot house. It is very easy to use, just plug it in.. NO extra wiring. The automatic humidstat and thermostat are one of the features I was chose this fan over other fans. This has been a cost savings to our electric bill by keeping our attic cooler and the house overall is at least 10 degrees cooler. We still need to run our air conditioners on occasion, but compared to last year at this same time, we did not have to put in the air conditioners until middle of July. The fan is very quiet, not a hum or noise level like the fan prior to this. I also like the features of it auto switching the speed depending on humidity. Great fan, highly recommend! We have recommended this to a friend who was also looking for an attic fan.

Major Improvement
By Rico

I bought this to replace the old and very small attic fan, which would run constantly and also was very loud and vibrated the entire house. I did not test the before and after temps in the attic post-install, however I could tell that the attic was cooler by how less the A/C had to work to cool the house. In addition, I can still hear the attic fan from inside the house from lowest to fastest speed when running (very minimal), and I could tell that it did not kick on as often as the previous fan. Hence, there is an improvement.

The install for me required some adjustments due to the framing in the attic, but was simple. I did some rewiring to create a power outlet box, rather than hardwire the fan. I made an airbox for it against the vent and sealed it with foam spray and caulking. I also purchased rubber grommets to cushion and reduce sound/vibration, which works like a charm. As I said, the previous old fan shook the house all day long. This one hums smoothly and for the most part is unnoticeable from inside the house. Outside the house I can definitely hear it, which is fine because it is a powerful fan and I know it's moving that hot air out.

It's pretty lightweight. I bought an additional one for my garage attic, but have not installed it yet, hoping that will cool everything down more. I'd definitely recommend this one.

Don't Bother Looking At The Others, Just Pick This One.

Finally got around to replacing the old fan that hadn't worked since we moved in (5 years ago). Decided that if I was going to be up there to install this during summer, might as well get the best and this did not disappoint. We routinely get 20-30 100+ degree days here, so finding any way to save on AC costs is huge. This fan is automatic and self-sufficient, you plug it in and let it work. On average, I would say that it dropped the temperature upstairs by about 4 degrees, which I think means the AC turns on maybe 2 hours later than it did before we put the fan in.

One piece of advice though, buy a set of those vibration isolation washers. Mounting a fan rotating at that speed straight to a wooden frame on the gable will send vibrations throughout the wall. The pads took care of that and the fan is remarkably quiet even at full speed.

Happy To Have This As Part Of My Homes Arsenal For Comfort
By Brian

Bought the green fan as it is a progressive fan based upon temperature. Looked around extensively and settled on this fan over many cheaper variants. Installed pretty easy after I built a support structure (brick / block house). This is truly plug and play item. I did however disable the humidity sensor which is hard to find in their literature (online only). I hope this works as I do not want this operating, just want the temp sensor.

One thing I wish this had is a temperature control for the homeowner, this is factory set and that is it, the fan comes on at 80 degree's. It would be nice to be able to set this where you wanted. Either way, the fan is quiet enough, you hear it running when you go to bed. Its quieter than the central A/C with floor registers blowing air. The fan is off in the morning, so no issues from me. Outdoor temps this last month has been in the 90s with low in the 70s, so the fan runs everyday. I do not notice any earth shattering changes in the house with the fan running over the last month...so we will see how the electrical bill compares to previous years and whether this thing works.
