    Overview for QuietCool QC CL-5400

The QC CL-5400 advanced whole house fan is a new take on the idea of whole house ventilation. Whole house ventilation allows you to bring the cooler outdoor air through your windows, home, and attic space to thoroughly cool and ventilate both the home and attic. This is what allows your home to stay cooler the next day and resist heating up as much as it would if you only ran the AC to cool the home. The QuietCool QC CL-5400 is designed to be installed centrally in midsize homes. Simply open a window when you get home from work, flip on the QuietCool, and enjoy a peaceful and cool evening relaxing. And for an even better system, purchase another smaller QuietCool unit for your master bedroom to enjoy a full range of cooling and ventilation..
  • Never run your A/C at night again!
  • QuietCool works perfectly at night when the temperature drops, mass-cooling your home without the use of A/C. By mass cooling your home at night it will remain cooler during the day.
  • Save up to 50-90% off A/C Usage

This think is amazing

We ha e a 2400sq/ft house. The fan is way overkill for this size house however I knew it was. The main reason I got this one was because of the amount of cfm on low. This efficiency model is 164 watts at 4304 cfm. At .1055 cents a kilowatt (my rate i pay the electric company) thats 1.7 cents an hour. Thats less than 42 cents a day if you run it ALL day. For fun we filled up the bottom floor with a Halloween fog machine so think you couldn't see in front of you more than 4 feet. With 2 windows opened down stairs and the fan on high, it cleared the house of fog in 4 mins. If you want to save on your energy bill in the spring and fall months. This is highly recommended. Like I said. Get a efficiency model that will pull the air flow you need on low. I believe you will be glad you did. Oh and as far as noise. On high it sound like the ac is running. (Our unit is in a closet) just a real low hum. On low you dont every notice it. You have to stop and see if its on.

After I installed the unit I tried it out the following week. Outside temperature was 65 °f, the inside temperature was 79° f and dropped to 70°f in a matter of 15 minutes approximately.
I'm very impressed.
Key thing is that you need to multiple your total sq ft 3 x. So the 3100 unit is great for a 1000 sq ft home.

Enjoying the fan

This unit keeps our 1500sq ft condo nice and cool in the evening and throughout the night. You can hear it a little on low and it’s more of a mechanical sound than the fan spinning, seems normal though.

AC comes on much less frequent during the day and it’s really only towards the late afternoon when it’s needed even with outside temps in the 90’s.

Rated so so on value. It’s a fan some flexible ducting and and metal box and grate. So $900 bucks and another $800 for less than two hours install? I did it myself. Hardest part was finding a suitable area on thE attic that was full of pipes, wiring, heating etc.

This thing awesome, brings in a lot of cool air at night but I run it for many reasons. It’s just amazing how fast the temperature can drop with just two windows in comparison to every window in the house all night. 10X or more faster.

Easy to install, everything was as advertised. Runs smoothly and quietly. Gravity dampers are a nice touch. I installed in my garage to cool it and the attic space above it. Works great, makes a noticeable difference in a short time. High quality assembly for sure.

Great product
By Chris

Review Posted 09/02/2020
Very happy with this purchase. Bought it for a 2,500 sq ft home in salt lake city. To size the fan, I factored out the basement and based it on cooling 2,000 sq ft living space. With a 5,000 CFM fan, this gives me roughly 2.5 CFM per sq ft., which is plenty.
Would also recommend the hi/low/off switch and timer combo, bought on this site. I'm sure this setup can be sourced cheaper, but it's just convenient to buy together.
Overall, the price tag is relatively high, but it saves $ and has improved the comfort of the house quite a bit. See if your electric utility offers a rebate for whole house fans.

Extremely quiet whole house fan
By Kevin B.
Platteville, Colorado
Purchased 06/14/2020 |
Review Posted 08/23/2020
I installed this whole house fan in our laundry/mud room between the garage and kitchen so I can either use this fan to cool the garage and attic during the day, or cool the rest of the house at night when the outside temperature goes down. I have been using our whole house fan every day for nearly 3 months and I think it was a great investment. Our entire family loves how quiet it is compared to the old style whole house fans we had at our last two houses.

Be aware that if you do dissemble the fan motor from the duct and/or the intake box there is not a lot of clearance so reassembly will take time, patience and effort.

Amazing product. It pre-cools the house in the morning and cools the house at night once it cools down outside. Ot also keeps the attic from being lethally hot of I have to gonup there. Wiring it turned out to be a bit of a challenge. If you're Jo Schmo homeowner, it's worth it to hire a pro to wire it.
