Purchased For A Large Family

Purchased this propane 540 unit after doing a ton of research on all tankless models out there. I am a contractor by trade so I do my due diligence. I have a large family, wife and 4 girls at home. I was out of hot water every day (50g tank). I often run 2 showers at once and dishwasher. Ok so now to the tankless unit. Over all it rates at about 11 stars for me. This unit is near silent. Just a small humming sound. I have it set to the max temp of 150 (max 160) I am just amazed at the amount of hot water it provides, it doesn’t even make sense to me. I have direct pex piping from the water Manifold to each hot water outlet. Just put of curiosity I ran 2 showers 3 faucets at hot with dishwasher on. All had hot water and pressure. I should also mention that I am in Philadelphia so our ground water temp is between 50 and 55. That’s 100 degrees rise. The girls at home are happy so I am happy. Great unit.

Excellent Tankless Water Heater

Review Posted 10/14/2020
I'm using the propane version of the T-H3. It works flawlessly at 3000 foot elevation. Installation is easy and inexpensive with ability to use PVC pipe for exhaust. The exhaust fan isn't too loud when it's running. Automatic anti freeze feature is great for the mountains or other cold areas. I've used an older Takagi water heater model at my home and it's worked flawlessly for 9 years with zero issues.

First Tankless Water heater

This unit is a sub-model 540 of the model T-H3-DV-P, liquid propane fueled, direct vent
Takagi tankless water heater line. Has been functioning well since completing installation on 5/21/20. Purchased form PED through their Ebay store Ordered May 14, 2020...delivered May 15, 2020 from Ft. Payne, AL via FedEx. Incredible. Selected Takagi system based on internet reviews and a close friend who has this same unit.
Fairly easy to install. I would recommend Takagi re-engineer the mounting flanges found on the top and bottom of the unit. They are too narrow in height (3/4") and access is obscured by the top vent system ducts and made difficult by the bottom water and LP inlet portals. Also found the factory installation instruction manual provided incorrect DIP switch settings for this unit (model 540) Manual said upper DIP switch block was to have only number 3 switch in "on" position. Factory pre-set had switch 1 and 3 in "on" position. Unit would not function with only switch 3 in "on" position. Works just fine with factory pre-set.
Highly recommend the Takagi and A.O. Smith - PVC Concentric Termination, #9007611005, vent pipe. Requires only one hole (4 1/2") through home outside wall for installation of both intake and exhaust vents.Have been using this unit sine May 15, 2020. Working just fine.

Takagi T-H3 - 6.3 GPM (Indoor model)
By J. V.
Levering, Michigan
Purchased 12/07/2019 |
Review Posted 03/22/2020
This is my second Takagi tankless hot water system. After 3 months of use the TH3 unit consistently produces hot water as described for 45-50 degree intake temperature with no hot/cold "surges." The only main drawback of purchasing the new unit is the lack of a remote control (must buy separately for indoor model). I called Takagi customer service before my purchase and they told me the remote was included (which it was not). Not reassuring customer service. The knowledgeable folks at eComfort gave me the correct info about the need to purchase a separate controller. Concerning the performance of the unit itself, the only issue I have is the power fan can be pretty loud (almost like the blower is not balanced properly for high RPM). This can be annoying if you are sensitive to noises or installed on a wall adjacent to a room where you wouldn't appreciate the noise. I installed mine on a basement wall. My original unit that failed after 15 years (due to heat exchanger leak) was not this loud. I may try to install isolators to the wall mount in order to mitigate some of the vibration. Everything else works as advertised. I would purchase again (but hopefully will not have to for a long while).
