For nearly three decades, tekmar has been providing zoning and control solutions for a variety of heating and cooling applications. Products made by tekmar can improve the efficiency and comfort delivered by almost any system. The 664 Snow Detector & Melting Control is for hydronic snow melting systems with multiple zones. This control operates two boilers, a mixing device, a system pump, and two zone pumps, or valves, to provide water temperatures for two snow melting zones. The tekmar 664 is an ideal solution for safe and reliable snow melting operations.
Product Features:
Intelligent Control
The tekmar 664 monitors outdoor temperature information and the water temperature at various points in your system. Using this information, it is able to determine the ideal slab temperature for your snow melt system.
Melting Automation
The tekmar 664 Snow Detector & Melting Control supports an additional sensor for automatic activation of melting protocols. A tekmar Snow/Ice Sensor connected to zone one is necessary for this functionality. Automated snow melting means that your system won't miss precipitate and won't run when there is no need.
Warm Weather Shutdown
Warm weather shut down is present in this control and it prevents your system from melting or idling when the slab and outdoor temperatures are above a threshold. That threshold may be automated or manually set.
Cold Weather Cut Out
Cold weather cut out prevents your system from running during extremely cold temperatures when maintaining melting functions may be inefficient and untenable.
Mixing Options
The tekmar 664 Snow Detector & Melting Control uses a mixing device to protect your slabs and boilers from potentially damaging water temperatures. This device can be a floating action mixing valve, a variable speed injection pump, or a modulating (4-20 mA) device.
Proportional, Integral, Derivative (PID) Staging Mode
In PID mode, an advanced algorithm weighs many variables, including sensor temperatures, when making operation decisions. PID reduces short-cycling, improves efficiency, and prevents temperature drops in your system.
