Solved My Flooding Problem

I had a low point in the back yard that flooded when it rained heavily and the hole in the wall wouldn't wasn't low enough to allow it to drain which wasn't too much of a problem until I put in a storage shed. Just digging a pit and installing the sump pump with gravel completely solved the problem.

Outdoor Sump Pump For Yard Flooding Low Area

I looked at a number of options to correct the problem with my yard flooding due to bad grading. When there are heavy rain storms I get a river in my backyard near my porch and basement windows. I asked a number of questions from several vendors including Sump Pump Direct and watched many YouTube videos on the subject. DIRECT answered all my questions thoroughly, they took their time to make sure I was ok.
I got a few bids from landscapers which were $1,700 to $2,400. I decided to buy the Outdoor sump pump from Direct. I installed the sump pump with no issues, no digging either. I ran the 24' tubing under my porch to the side yard which was an area that will drain the water.
I spent $350 and the pump works great and is quiet.

Low price for the complete package. Simple installation, great instructions. I used for an exterior application to drain standing water on outside of my house. Dug a hole, added the pump and surrounded it with rock. As soon as I plugged it it it started working. It is well built, feels sturdy. Worth the money to not buy the plastic version. I have a cheaper plastic pump from a box store and this Zoeller model is far superior.

Wasn't sure if the wife and I would actually love this product or not but as soon as it kicked on my wife exclaimed that it was "so quiet!!!" and that was good enough for me. It works very well and removes water quickly.

We had some bad storms in Oregon this last year and had water enter our crawl space. Unfortunately, it was more than just a trickle. As so many people were having similar problems, getting work done by a professional wasn't going to happen for a few months. This machine saved us from a lot of heartache. My original solution was to run a garden hose from our portable pump out the window (the pump that I used on our pool to empty it). Unfortunately, this required me to manually plug the pump in every 2 hours.
When the Zoeller arrived, we dug out the area that was collecting water, filled it with pebbles and bought pvc pipe that we ran to the low point drain. The hose that comes with this will develop leaks, so you will want to use PVC instead. We used the flexible hose for the last section and it was soon dripping all over. You want to also order the back flow valve so that water doesn't come back into the machine when it is done pumping. When I had a professional come out to put in some pebbles to make the water flow correctly to our drain, he said that they use this same pump and it is the best.

I installed the pump in my basement and the pump works great, but the supplied hose already has several small holes in it after only a couple weeks of use. I am planning on installing hard pipe, but I was hoping to do that later rather than sooner.

I bought this pump to install in my crawl space. I already had a sump pit so all I had to do was take it out of the box put everything together and within 30 minutes I was done. I've had it in for two days so far and my crawl space is bone dry. The motor is also very quiet can barely tell if it is even on. I definitely recommend it. Now its the test of time to see how long it'll last.
