Unico Mini Ducts Fit Anywhere, Save Energy

Unico High-Velocity HVAC Systems

By Ken D.  |  Product Expert

eComfort has partnered with Unico to bring residential and commercial property owners the most flexible ductwork system on the market for efficient heating and cooling in virtually any space.

Unlike traditional ductwork, which is bulkier, more rigid, and can lose up to 25 percent of heating and cooling energy, the Unico high-velocity HVAC system installs in tight spaces and has almost zero air leakage. In fact, a Unico mini duct system can deliver up to 9 tons of air conditioning in the same space as a 3-ton conventional unit

The secret lies in Unico’s flexible two-inch tubing, which can fit out of sight in most ceiling and wall cavities, under the floor, or even inside traditional ductwork. This makes it perfect for retrofitting historic or traditional homes, where preserving the existing structure is essential.

Highly Adaptable

The Unico small-duct system works with most types of heating and cooling equipment, including nearly any condenser, boiler, and smart home thermostat. It also works with electric heaters and in geothermal applications.

A Unico system includes:

  1. A compact air handler that can be installed horizontally or vertically in challenging spaces

  1. A main plenum that is one-third the size of conventional ducting and feeds air throughout the home

  1. The all-important flexible ducts that have energy-efficient and noise-dampening properties

  2. Compact round or slotted outlets that look sleeker than conventional grilles and can be painted to match any decor

For those unsure about selecting and sizing components, eComfort offers expert consultants who can advise which Unico configuration is best for their application and even customize their system.

Quiet & Efficient

Since it has one-third the surface area of conventional ducting, Unico ductwork loses one-third less energy. Furthermore, it’s insulated and wrapped in an outer vapor barrier for even more energy retention.

Unico can also remove up to 30 percent more humidity than conventional systems. This makes your space feel cooler than it is, allowing you to set your temperature higher in cooling mode and save energy.

The insulation and inner nylon core also help reduce noise, so the flowing air should sound no louder than a soft whisper.

Provides Enhanced Comfort

The Unico System operates on the principle of “aspiration,” which gently suctions the room’s air for consistent, draft-free temperatures. In fact, the temperature differential should never be more than two degrees from your thermostat’s location, providing greater comfort in homes, businesses, warehouses, and more.

Ease-of-Installation

As mentioned, the Unico system’s small physical size eliminates space concerns, making it simple to install on both new construction and remodeling jobs. Most Unico installations take only a couple of days, compared to up to a week for traditional systems.
